Science Understanding Science Through Literacy Book 4 Third Class Prim Ed .
Science (age 8-9) Science aims to develope core scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding of key science areas. Each unit of work is in a four-page division (one teacher page and three pupil pages)
First page is comprehensive teacher page providing the content focus the investigate skills focus background information lesson notes and answers.
Second page of the unit presents scientific information in a literacy-based text passage with the key informatin explained clearly and concisely using diagrams/artwork where appropriate
third page of activities requires the child to apply the information with the emphasis on thinking scientifically (using comprehension questions)
final page of activities involves a scientific investigation/on hands exploration of the concept. Emphasis is placed on the child predicting recording ,analysing,evaluating
and communicating his or her findings.
